KIDS Camp | Beginner Camp | Young Blades Camp | Advanced Camp
The Fencing Center of Buffalo will again run its annual Summer
Fencing Camps in 2008! These HALF-DAY or FULL-DAY CAMPS, designed for
beginners as well as more experienced fencers, offer students an
intensive 5-day experience in Classical French style Fencing, as well
as exposure to electrically-scored Sport Fencing. Each Camp is a
complete learning experience. The camps run Monday to Friday, beginning in late June.
Class size is limited - All fencers MUST Pre-Register. ALL fencers who
Pre-Register AND Pre-Pay at least 30 days prior to the camp START DATE
will receive a FREE Fencing Camp T-shirt!
Cost for the 5-day camp:
HALF-DAY CAMP (1 PM - 4 PM) - $100
FULL-DAY CAMP (9 AM -4 PM) - $175
PAYMENTS: Checks and Money Orders accepted until 14 days prior to the
camp START DATE, after that, payment is CASH ONLY. No credit cards
accepted.
REFUNDS: Registration fees, less a $25 processing fee, will be gladly
refunded until 30 days prior to the camp START DATE. Between 30 days
prior to the camp, and the camp START DATE, there will be a $50 late
cancellation fee charged to the amount refunded. Absolutely NO REFUNDS
after CAMP STARTS.
For all Summer Camp times listed, EARLY DROP-OFF (up to 1 hour prior
to camp START TIME) or LATE PICK-UP (up to 1 hour AFTER camp END TIME)
may be arranged at additional cost.
Cost for EARLY DROP-OFF is $15 per each day or $50 for the week. Cost
for LATE PICK-UP is $15 per each day or $50 for the week, and is IN
ADDITION TO THE COST for EARLY DROP-OFF.
Please make these special arrangements directly with the FCB Director.
Camp size is limited.
ALL STUDENTS MUST Register for Camps Beforehand.
Ages 6-11
This camp will introduce the new student to the basics of fencing: How
to move, attack & defend, using a safety (foam) sword. Activities
will include paired drills and fencing against the instructor &
assistants, as well as games to improve agility and eye-hand
coordination. Focus will be on correct form, footwork, and having FUN!
All equipment provided.
Note: For those parents seeking a FULL-DAY camp experience,
there are day care facilities in the same building as the Fencing
Center.
Ages 12 to 18
This camp will introduce the new student to the basics of fencing: How
to move, attack & defend, using the Foil. Activities will include
paired drills and fencing against other students, as well as judging
bouts. Focus will be on correct form, footwork, and the fundamentals.
All equipment provided.
Ages 6-11
This camp is for fencers with some prior experience. Students must be graduates
of a Beginner Class/Camp, and have permission from the instructor. This
camp will pick up where Beginner Training left off . . . Skills will
include: Compound Attacks, Attacks on the Blade, and more advanced
footwork. Students will be fencing, judging and directing from Day 1.
Fencing Equipment provided.
What to Bring With You to Beginner & Intermediate Fencing Camp
- Snacks / Lunch / Beverages (these are NOT provided by the FCB)
There are vending machines in the building and Gatorade & Bottled Water are available for sale on the premises)
- Water Bottle (FCB Water Bottles are available for $6)
- Small hand towel
- T-shirt & shorts
- Long-pant sweats or knickers (sweats or jeans are o.k.) no cargo pockets
- Sneakers, all-courts (no flip flops or sandals)
IMPORTANT: gentlemen MUST bring a cup (athletic protector) or they will NOT be permitted to train
Ages 12-21
This camp is for experienced fencers ONLY. Students must be graduates
of an Intermediate Class/Camp, and have permission from the instructor.
This camp will focus on intense footwork, fast blade work, and bouting.
The students will gain a lot of experience fencing, judging &
directing bouts. Focus will be on Fencing, Fencing, Fencing, both the
mental and physical game.
This camp will include exposure to EPEE & SABRE fencing.
Students MUST have their own fencing equipment.
What to Bring With You to Advanced Camp
- Fencing equipment required
- Electric fencing equipment (if you have it)
- Water bottle
- Small towel
- T-shirt & shorts
- Long-pant sweats or knickers & long socks (no fencing in shorts)
- Fencing sneakers, all-courts, etc.
- Lunch (this is NOT provided by the FCB)
